Another few days of work have produced some large steps towards completion of the car prior to testing on the 12th March at Snetterton. The car is now fitted with the correct gears, the brakes and clutch are bled and checked, the steering rack has been checked over and refilled and, with the wheels and tyres fitted, we were able to drop the car onto the floor for the first time in a few months. Racing cars look a lot better sitting on the floor than 3 feet in the air on the rebuild trolley…
MoreWelcome to Dallara398.com
Welcome to our website. We compete in the UK’s Monoposto Racing Club, which is intended to allow older single seater race cars to be used by ordinary folk at affordable prices. In 2007 we joined the club to begin our single seater racing career with a 1998 Reynard 883 Formula 3 car, and learnt very quickly that it’s not easy to become or remain competitive. With a part-season behind us we launched into 2008 with the Reynard, our sights set on championship victory in the Classic Class. Our goals acheived, we acquired a 1998 Dallara F398 with which to compete in 2009, and finished our ‘learning year’ in 3rd place, with a couple of wins and several fastest laps. Our hope is the 2010 is our championship year but, as ever in motorsport, you can never be sure of anything…
- New tyres have been ordered for the start of the season!
- The winter rebuild is progressing nicely!
- Victory at Snetterton in the final race of the year!!
- Recovery drive from 13th to 2nd in the wet at Silverstone!!
- The forecast is for rain at Silverstone…
- The rebuild is in progress, to be complete for 2009

Kat Impey Testing
Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a test session with Kat Impey, as she gets to grips with her Dallara F302 for BRSCC F3 (aka ClubF3). This was her third test in the car, but the learning curve was still very steep. Arty Cameron was also there testing his rebuild Jedi Mk4 for Mono, and Amnon Needham was testing his F394 also for Monoposto.
MoreTwitter me good
You may have heard of Twitter – it’s a system whereby one’s status can be make public (via what is called a Tweet). People (anyone) can ‘follow’ you, and hence be notified of your status (Tweet)… In other words, it’s a great way of telling people – interested people (because if they weren’t interested they wouldn’t be following you) – about things that are happening. In my case, I’m hoping to keep you informed of what I’m doing, when I’m doing it. That might be a lazy gear ratio change one evening, or it might be to say I’ve just secured pole position…
Joining Twitter is simple and free, and you can start to follow me, other motorsport people and Stephen Fry. Alternatively, I’ve replaced the old unused “chatbox” with my twitter feed. The latest 5 or 6 tweets are listed there (and I think you can view more with a mouse click), so you can see what I’m doing by visiting here! Hurrah…

Winter Rebuild and New Website
We’re playing with a new website to keep you informed of everything more easily and quickly than ever before, by migrating from Joomla to Wordpress. How long this takes, and how easy it is remains to be seen…
The rebuild is going well. The car is running smoothly, and we’re nearly ready to put it back on its wheels and sort the setup out… Who knows how long that will take either…
