We are a small, family team enjoying our ventures and successes in club racing.
The team consists, mainly, of four people:
Martin – The Dad! Effectively he is Team Principle and Head of Engineering.
Tristan – Yours truly! I am the driver, but also, effectively, the Chief Mechanic. Together, Martin and I do most of the preparation of the car.
Andrew – Cameraman! Andrew is involved during the race weekends as a truckie, mechanic and photographer. In fact, Andrew is the main photographer of the Monoposto Racing Club. He also runs RacingExposure.com and NorwichPhoto.co.uk
Emma - Multiskilled! Emma comes to the race meetings and does a bit of everything. From loading the racing car to pitching the tents to working the pitboard to refuelling the car, there is little she can’t do and nothing she won’t (after a quick lesson). Absolutely invaluable to the team effort!
Chris – Race Engineer! Chris is a 3rd year engineering student from Leeds University, and has joined the team for 2010 to assist us running a second car whilst simultaneously building his experience and understanding of motorsport and car preparation in the process. A very able, enthusiastic and valued member of our race team.
Laura – Cook and Grid-Girl! Laura is my ‘better-half’, and is my mental-coach (“Don’t do anything stupid, you only need to finish”), brolly-dolly and the team Chef. Not only does Laura choose to put up with my long hours preparing the cars, but also the nerves and hours spent in a cold, often windy (and often damp) paddock and tent. She also mucks in with my seatbelts, pitboard and other critical tasks!
However, there are also a few other people worthy of mention that, although not ‘regular’ team members have spared their time and skills to assist on an occasional basis…
Stewart -A member of staff at Omicron Engineering that does a lot of the welding for us (when we require a standard of welding that neither Martin or I can manage).
Jim – A highly skilled metal worker – can usually make anything out of sheet metal, including wheeling, beating, pressing etc.
Steve – A highly skilled painter and bodywork specialist (although for a hobby he restores classic motorcycles) who has ensured the car looks as good as it does to the outside world.
Lewis - Our new recruit at Omicron, as an apprentice painter and panel beater. Recently given the daunting task of repainting damaged bodywork after my Oulton crash, and now you can barely tell what I did.
