Nearly ready. Some photos…
First up, the car as a whole – looks nice with everything bolted on again.

MoreAnother few days of work have produced some large steps towards completion of the car prior to testing on the 12th March at Snetterton. The car is now fitted with the correct gears, the brakes and clutch are bled and checked, the steering rack has been checked over and refilled and, with the wheels and tyres fitted, we were able to drop the car onto the floor for the first time in a few months. Racing cars look a lot better sitting on the floor than 3 feet in the air on the rebuild trolley…
MoreWe’re playing with a new website to keep you informed of everything more easily and quickly than ever before, by migrating from Joomla to WordPress. How long this takes, and how easy it is remains to be seen…
The rebuild is going well. The car is running smoothly, and we’re nearly ready to put it back on its wheels and sort the setup out… Who knows how long that will take either…
MoreEarlier today we had the Dallara running for the first time since the fuel injection project was undertaken. Obviously, we think this is quite an exciting milestone, and now I’m really looking forward to seeing how it performs on track. It took a bit of doing – the datalogger seems to have developed a fault in a wire somewhere, and the ECU initially didn’t want to make it do anything other than cough. But a fiddle with the laptop solved that, and it burst into life this morning.
MoreOur 2009 season was hardly disappointing, all things considered, least of all in the engine department where we seemed to be as strong as anyone else. For the 2010 season we aimed to improve aspects of the engine following an analysis of the dry sumping and oil pump arrangment. Two revisions were played with early in 2009, and the lessons learnt encouraged us to develop a new revision that will debut in the Dallara at a test day during March 2010. We have made noticeable gains in oil pressure and power output, all of which will help in our challenge for the 2010 Mono2000 championship. The engine has been run in on the Dyno this week (albeit on carburettors for simplicities sake), and is now ready to race!
MoreDespite the cold weather, and the layer of snow and ice on the roads, we’ve been getting on with the winter rebuild. The engine is essentially finished, and we have decided on our fuel system – we’ll be using throttle bodies and fuel injection as allowed in the 2010 regulations. A certain amount of work was carried out to determine which – carbs or injection – was best for us, and we have decided to go with injection. Peak power barely changes, and indeed at certain RPMs we’ll have less power than on the carbs, but the fuel control injection allows will make up for this in driveability and response. Flow testing both systems, as well as a comprehensive dyno testing session helped optimise the inlet tract lengths (although variable length trumpets would help even further), and we’ve had the system fully mapped for our engine.
The chassis is coming back together now as well. A few carbon components had to have some rectification work done on them, which required the floor, plank and tub to be separated, and that has now been completed and refitted.
