Recently found on Facebook, by a user called LentilSouper (known to be part of the Samier clan, and has the username Ibnm on the Monoposto Forum), is this video from Brands Hatch. It’s not very exciting, but it does show me winning, plus you can hear some of the commentary.

Our other driver, Tony Bishop, has bought the ex-Phil Moore/Nemesis Racing Dallara F304 for use in MSVR’s F3 Cup, which was formerly ClubF3 (and continues to be called that by most people). It needed a bit of work doing to it – the windscreen was broken, the reverse/neutral lockout cable had seized, the brake caliper seals were leaking etc – and it needed the setup reviewing as there were some very odd choices on the car to begin with.
I was asked by Tony to spend a morning driving the car, evaluating it’s condition, speed and setup. Below is a short video (the only video captured on the day, thanks to a dodgy battery terminal in our GoPro HD camera) showing me driving the Snetterton 300 circuit on Friday 10th June. My best lap was one or two laps after the camera stopped working, and I managed a 1m48.9. Not bad considering it was my first time in the car, the engine and ride height were considerably different, and I’d never driven a sequential racecar before.
Now, I have to say, I want one!

Stable Imaging Solutions have released their latest additions to the bullet camera market, with two HD cameras joining forces with their existing SD camera. All three are small, lightweight, cylindrical and metal bodied, which should allow for easier mounting without wobbles and vibration. The 1080p version has an HDMI output for live viewing on a TV screen (or playback), and both new models will have a data interface to allow some dataloggers to control it, or the use of a remote on/off control. I think they look wonderful and far superior to the ContourHD and GoPro HD alternatives… The 1080 version will sell for US$299.99. We have two on pre-order, and can’t wait to fit them to our Monoposto cars.
MoreThis is a short video of my pole position qualifying lap at Donington on Sunday 3rd April 2011. It is quite easily my best lap in a racing car, though it was far from perfect. Only Anglesey 2010, when I managed to muscle a misfiring car around like a go-kart to pole position comes close. Do enjoy it. And if anyone has videos or datalogging they want me to look at for my two-pennies worth of advice, then get in touch, I’ll be happy to help if I can.

Here is a short video showing a simulated lap of the new Snetterton 300 circuit, from trackside and driver’s eye view. This video is NOT made by me. The lap is generated using the rFactor simulation, one of the worst modern ‘simulators’ in the world. Hence the appaulingly unrealistic driving lines and speeds (flat through T1, but braking in the Bombhole). However, it does show (as is its intention) the new layout. A fiddly bit that all looks the same (like Rockingham’s infield), and a rather interesting final corner – braking from high speed whilst turning and changing direction. Crashes ahoy!
